How fast can you get to me for a lockout?+
Most McKinnon lockouts we reach in under 20 minutes. Bentleigh, Ormond, and Brighton typically 20–30 minutes. We're based right on McKinnon Rd, so we're never far. Call 0413 350 744 and we'll give you an honest ETA before we dispatch.
Do you cut restricted or high-security keys?+
Yes — we supply our own restricted key system and cut most high-security keyways. Restricted keys can only be duplicated by the authorised locksmith whose name is stamped on the key face — check the front of your key and bring it to that locksmith. If it says King Kobbler, we've got you.
Can you program a car key without the original?+
Yes — we offer all-keys-lost services. If you have no keys at all, we can come to the vehicle, generate and cut a new key, and program it to the car on the spot. We carry blank keys and programming equipment for most Australian-delivered vehicles — Holden, Ford, Toyota, Mazda, Hyundai, Kia, Subaru, and many European makes. No towing required, and usually same-day.
How much does it cost to rekey a house?+
A single lock rekey starts from $65. A full house rekey (3–5 locks, multiple keys cut) starts from $350. The final price depends on lock type, keyway complexity, and whether you want all doors keyed alike. We'll give you a firm quote before we touch a single lock. Read our full rekeying cost guide.
Do you repair leather bags that aren't Gucci?+
Absolutely. We repair handbags, wallets, belts, and luggage from any brand — luxury, high-street, or unbranded. The Gucci restoration in our reviews is one we're proud of, but we give the same care to every item. Lining repair, zip replacement, strap shortening, edge re-colouring — bring it in and we'll assess it on the spot.
Should I rekey or replace my locks after moving house?+
Rekeying is usually the smarter choice. It's faster (under an hour for a full house), cheaper than replacing all your hardware, and makes every old key instantly useless. We only recommend replacing the lock if it's physically worn, damaged, or you want to upgrade to a higher security grade. Our rekeying guide covers the decision in detail.
Can you install a smart lock on my existing door?+
In most cases, yes. We fit Schlage, Yale, Lockwood, and Lockly smart locks onto standard Australian door preparations. We'll check your door's thickness, backset, and existing cutout before recommending a model — some doors need minor modification, but most are straightforward.
